It's not all that unusual to hear of an actor simply refusing to break out of the accent of their character whilst walking around on set in-between takes. If said way of speaking is particularly distinct or a world away from said thespian's natural voice, it often just makes sense to stick with it for the long haul.

But there's keeping up your American twang throughout the working day. And then there's refusing to drop your accent altogether for a whopping 9-months in order to nail a role, which is merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes into the sheer amount of effort Lady Gaga put into bringing real-life figure Patrizia Reggiani to life on the big-screen.

On top of living as the wife (and killer) of Maurizio Gucci for a year-and-a-half - nine months of which were spent adopting her unmistakable Italian accent - Gaga instantly dyed her hair from blonde to brown, wrote an 80-page biography about Reggiani, donned 55 wigs over the course of shooting, consumed more bread and pasta than usual in a bid "to have a more rounded figure,” and even studied videos of panthers and foxes when trying to land on Patrizia's physicality.

Simply put, Gaga went all in on this particular Ridley Scott crime story.
