10 Strangest Mistakes In Movies

4. Worst. Street Sweeper. Ever. - Quantum Of Solace

Passenger 57
Sony Pictures Releasing

This is a classic movie mistake but one that's undeniably one of the most hilariously absurd you'll ever see.

Roughly 26 minutes into Daniel Craig's second Bond film Quantum of Solace, keep your eye on the right-hand side of the frame when the camera lingers on 007 sat atop a motorcycle while staring off into the middle-distance.

There's an extra clearing the floor with a broom behind him, but if you actually watch his movements, he's just sweeping thin air a few inches off the ground.

Now, this isn't as uncommon as you might think on a movie set: extras are often told to perform their duties without making a sound to ensure they don't comprise the recording of dialogue.

Except, in this brief scene, Bond doesn't say anything at all, so having the extra fake-sweep really didn't have much of a tangible technical benefit.

This gaffe has become a widely-mocked meme in the years since its release, and while many have called the poor guy involved the "worst extra ever," he was almost definitely told to do this by an assistant director.
