With a rival Bond picture occurring the same year featuring none other than Sean Connery, the producers of the Roger Moore starring Octopussy knew they had to up the ante. It was in the action scenes where the stakes were risen, with the most daring and jaw dropping stunts ever attempted in film history. Thought Tom Cruise's efforts at the start of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation were impressive? Well the stunts in this 1983 film were something else.

Of course with grander stunts came greater risks and it is in the film's spectacular train scene that a major injury occurred. The incident involved Martin Grace, Roger Moore's stunt double, who fractured his pelvis while hanging from the outside of a train as it moved at full speed. Like many incidents on the list, there was no fault of the person undertaking the stunt in the mishap, in this case a failure of communication the cause of the incident.

Grace actually managed to complete the stunt with minimal fuss, but the inability to communicate with him to tell him that filming had ceased did not get through to him. He therefore continued the stunt, unaware that the upcoming section of track had not been surveyed adequately. Unaware that filming had stopped, Grace continued the stunt before eventually colliding with a pole, breaking his pelvis.

Thankfully this was the worst injury suffered during filming, which considering the new level of risks being taken, was actually an accomplishment of sorts.
