While many of the stunts on this list have proven to be near misses that have proven little more than a good story to tell, this misfired stunt sadly had fatal consequences. While many Bond related stunts were due to significant mistakes by the producers and/or crew, this tragedy was actually caused by a poorly designed bobsleigh track.

In the biggest and best action sequence for 1981's For Your Eyes Only, James Bond is pursued by Russian assassins at a ski resort. To avoid capture, Bond skies down a bobsleigh track that is in use while being pursued by an assassin on a motorcycle. While the skiing and motorcycle component of the stunt went off with no issues, tragedy struck when the Bobsleigh flipped during filming, killing 23-year-old stunt performer Paolo Rigoni.

Sadly this was not the only tragedy to occur on this track, with an accident occurring during a Bobsleigh competition, killing a competitor at the exact part of the track where Rigoni's death had occurred. In light of these deaths, the bobsleigh track was modified to not have such a severe turn, but all this was too late for poor Rigoni. Thankfully there has been no subsequent deaths on the set of a Bond film, and one can only hope that Rigoni's death will be the last.
