1. The Batman Voice (The Dark Knight & The Dark Knight Rises)
Ah yes, perhaps the most consistently maligned aspect of not only Nolan's Batman films, but his career as a whole, is his decision to have Batman use an exaggerated growl to hide his normal Bruce Wayne voice. While it does make sense within the context of the story, frankly it just sounds silly, and it's hard to take anything he says seriously. Case in point, when Batman has captured the Joker and says "This city...just showed you...that it's full of people...ready to believe in good", it just sounds so awkward, like Bats has to take about 8 breaths just to get through the scene. This gets taken to ridiculous, if hilarious, lengths in The Dark Knight Rises when Catwoman sneaks off mid-dialogue and in full Batman voice, Bats says, "So that's what that feels like". Hilarious, but silly. And then at the end of the film when Batman reveals his identity to Gordon, he still speaks in the Batman voice despite everyone in that area now knowing his real identity. Plus, wouldn't it have been more affecting if Bruce broke character and just talked in his normal voice? Are there any moments we missed? Were Memento, Insomnia and Following dumber than I've given them credit for? Let us know in the comments below.
