10 Stupid Moments In Christopher Nolan Films

5. Ken Watanabe's Expository Dialogue (Inception)

Inception Ken Watanabe I love Ken Watanabe; the guy's a great actor and had superb screen presence in both Batman Begins and Inception, but his role in the latter clearly wasn't very well thought out. Simply, Watanabe's English is not the greatest, and so it's probably best to keep his dialogue minimal, or at least ensure it's simple stuff that can be easily read, and won't matter so much if audiences miss it. Well, Nolan just went ahead and cast Watanabe in a role that is pivotal to our understanding of the first 10-15 minutes of the film, ignoring the fact that audiences struggled to understand what the Hell he was saying. This isn't ideal at the best of times, but given that Watanabe is explaining some of the more complex mechanisms of the plot, it becomes downright infuriating. When I got the Blu-Ray, I actually had to put subtitles on, and it was only on my second viewing of the film that I properly understood those opening scenes. This just makes no sense whatsoever.
