10 Stupid Movie Villain Plans That Make NO Sense
7. The Emperor - Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker
There's a lot that doesn't make sense in The Rise of Skywalker. Where did the 10,000 Star Destoyers come from? How did The Emperor survive... dying? How come nobody knew Stormtroopers could fly when they've had jetpacks since the Clone Wars?
But another thing that doesn't quite click is The Emperor's intentions. Since Darth Sidious' body is rotting away, he needs to transfer his spirit into a relative to survive. He coaxes his granddaughter, Rey, to his domain and orders her to strike him down so he can be reborn in her.
But if he needs Rey alive, why does he keep trying to kill her? In The Last Jedi, his "creation", Snoke, ordered Kylo Ren to slaughter her. The only reason he didn't was because he turned on his master at the last second. If Rey popped her clogs, The Emperor would've been screwed.
Now, since The Last Jedi had a different writer, you could argue the director of The Rise of the Skywalker, JJ Abrams, did his best to work around this plothole. But in this film, The Emperor is STILL trying to murder Rey! He sends his troops and Kylo to exterminate her repeatedly, contradicting his entire plan.
