2. Final Destination (Death)
Death is arguably the most irrational fear of all given that it is inevitable and happens to everyone, regardless of whether you eat McDonalds twice a day or graze on nothing but salad and vitamin supplements. Much like the brilliant TV show Six Feet Under, Final Destination highlights the taboo of death, but takes it in a totally different direction, satirising our fear of a sudden, early death by subjecting characters to the most ludicrously, violently over the top premature deaths possible, as they try to outrun Death itself. The main message behind these films is that "death could come at any time", though they forget to add the suffix, "...if you're a freaking idiot". The convoluted means through which the characters die in these movies is all the fun, and when you sit back and think about how it relates to real life, it's comforting in a way; you're probably not going to be strangled by your own dental floss, but hey, you'll probably die in your sleep 50 years from now. Hooray!
