10 Stupidest Mistakes Made By Movie Heroes

5. The Fugitive - Dr. Richard Kimble Is Too Forgetful For His Own Good

The key is in the details. It's a saying that Richard Kimble was all too keen to forget when he tried to prove his innocence in The Fugitive. Accused of murdering his own wife and subsequently being charged jailed because of it, Kimble manages to escape custody on his way to jail, and spends the rest of the film gathering evidence, hiding from the authorities and tussling US Marshals. There's one big piece of evidence that Kimble overlooks in his journey for freedom though - he lent his keys to his supposed friend and colleague Dr. Charles Nichols. We can cut Kimble a little slack though, he was bound to forget some details in all of the excitement of his wife being murdered and then being almost immediately blamed for her murder. However, as soon as it's established that Kimble's residence showed no sign of a forced entry (therefore, requiring the murderer to have owned a set of keys), Kimble seemingly forgets that he lent his only set of keys to his dear, backstabbing friend. Considering Kimble's charge of murder utterly hinged on the fact that the killer needed to have been in possession of said keys, you'd think that he would have recalled the rather monumental fact that he lent his keys to someone else. But no, he decides to try and prove his innocence the hard way.
