10 Subtle Instances Of Method Acting You Never Even Knew About
7. Michelle Williams Tied A Belt Around Her Knees So That She Could Perfect The Walk In My Week With Marilyn
In My Week With Marilyn, lovely actress Michelle Williams decided to take a huge risk and try to embody who is arguably the world's most famous actress, Marilyn Monroe. She did a great job, of course, because she spent a ton of time reading up on the blonde bombshell and ensuring that she felt like she had enough knowledge of her personal life and mannerisms to give her justice. But she also did something else, which very few will know.
In order to nail Monroe's characteristic and hugely iconic "walk," Williams tied a belt around her knees during the weeks leading up to production in order to force herself to adopt it. "There was sort of a sense of a figure eight to her walk, that her shoulders were back, it looked like she had a sort of... like a balloon was attached to her breastbone," the actress said whilst discussing the subject. A subtle touch, of course, and one that you wouldn't have know was ever induced unless somebody told you. Like I am now. Thank me later.
