10 Subtle Instances Of Method Acting You Never Even Knew About

4. Shia LaBeouf Dropped Acid For A Drug Scene In The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman

Yeah, okay Shia, it was "research" - you dropped a ton of acid for "research" purposes, yeah? According to the actor, anyway, that's precisely what happened, and although Shia has always been renowed as something of a wild child, this instance of dropping acid was apparently a first for the actor.

"I have never taken acid before," he said, and was supposedly nervous about taking the infamous drug with guaranteed hallucinogenic effects. The point of this exercise, of course, was set to coincide with a scene in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman where his eponymous character takes LSD - and the results were pretty realistic, to say the least.

Whether or not LaBeouf was actually on drugs during the filming of the scene remains unclear, though his dedication might have been in vein, given that the movie was something of a critical and commercial bomb. I'm sure he doesn't regret it, nonetheless, given that he's even opting to have actual sex for movie roles nowadays. This guy used to be on a show called Even Stevens, by the way.
