10 Subtle Ways Horror Movies Made You Feel Uneasy
1. The Tease Of What's To Come - Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity has become a hugely successful franchise in the horror world. Although there have now been seven films in the series, the first was released way back in 2009. Directed by Oren Peli and starring Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, the 88-minute flick delivers plenty of fear, and yet in truth, very little is seen in that first Paranormal Activity – until the end.
That original offering is relatively subtle compared to the following releases in the series. The use of home-video recorders gives the film a realistic edge, yet for so much of the picture, all that is seen by the viewer is a perfectly comfortable home, full of quiet and stillness; you actually rarely see anything of significance until true horror unleashes in the last scenes.
However, this doesn't make Paranormal Activity boring; quite the contrary. The film manages to engage the viewer throughout with the promise of there being something in the shadows, never fully revealed until quite far into the experience.
