Similar to Kick-Ass's origin story, Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) loses his ability to feel physical pain which in turn gives him enhanced strength. After being badly burned his skin is reconstructed with a synthetic skin. However, this is not enough to cover his damaged face.
Believing him to be dead his girlfriend moves on, but Westlake later reveals himself to be alive causing conflict. She is then kidnapped and he must save her.
Whilst the plot is flimsy at best, the performances, set pieces and Sam Raimi's directing abilities save this from becoming a boring damsel in distress tale.
