10 Superhero Teams Who Deserve A Movie After Guardians Of The Galaxy
3. The Justice Society Of America
Created in 1940 by DC Comics, the Justice Society of America would automatically deserve a mention on this list simply for being the first superhero team ever conceived, but why do they deserve a place in the top three? Alongside original members Hourman, Doctor Fate, the Atom and the Spectre, the JSA featured the original incarnations of iconic DC heroes such as Hawkman, Green Lantern and the Flash. However, as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman became more popular, even forming their own team in the Justice League of America, DC based the JSA in an alternate reality, focusing primarily on the JLA as it rose to become the company's flagship group. Eventually, all of the various alternate realities were merged and the JSA became re-imagined as World War II era predecessors to the modern JLA. Many attempts were made to reignite interest in the JSA, but for years, they were forced to take a backseat to the Justice League of America. Confusing, right? All you really need to know is that in 1999, DC finally managed to revitalize the JSA book successfully by mixing some of the older original members with new younger counterparts. The dynamic of this incarnation focused on generational conflicts between the more experienced founders and the novice heroes who tried hard to live up to their legacy while striving to make their own mark on the world. A movie adaptation of the JSA has over seventy years of material to draw from and its rich heritage contains classic superhero storytelling at its best. A JSA film would not flirt with controversy like some other teams on this list, but sometimes, good old fashioned heroics is exactly what you need in a blockbuster. The success of a JSA movie would depend of course on how the Justice League of America film fares and studios may be reluctant to use some of the characters who share the same names, but a crossover movie featuring both teams coming together would be the superhero event of the decade, paying homage to the annual team ups both groups shared back in the day. X-Men: Days of Future Past proved that bridging the generational gap may seem a monumental task, but it is certainly possible if the right creative team is behind the project.
