10 Superhero Teams Who Deserve A Movie After Guardians Of The Galaxy

4. Doom Patrol

Created in 1963 by DC Comics, the Doom Patrol are a disparate group of super-powered freaks who banded together as outcasts, learning how to use their gifts to protect humanity. Led by a wheelchair bound intellectual, the team went through a number of line up changes over the years, but their commitment to fighting the forces of evil never wavered. Sound familiar? The Doom Patrol first appeared just a few short months before Marvel's X-Men, yet the similarities between the two groups has caused a lot of controversy over the years. While the X-Men became more and more popular, the Doom Patrol faded mostly into obscurity, despite numerous attempts to relaunch the team.

This all changed in the late 1980's, when comic book legend Grant Morrison took on writing duties and took the Doom Patrol to bizarre new places that no other series had ever been before, exploring elements of Dada and surrealism along the way. Eccentric new characters included Dorothy Spinner, an ape-faced girl with imaginary friends and Crazy Jane, a woman whose 64 different personalities all possess their own unique super power. Perhaps the strangest member though was Danny the Street, a sentient road who also happened to be a male transvestite...

While there have been more incarnations of the team since Morrison's run, his interpretation is by far the most memorable and although a movie based on Morrison's work is unlikely to ever occur, it would be a fan boys dream. Imagine Robotman and the team facing off against the Scissormen, who literally cut people out of reality with their scissor-like hands, or The Quiz, a foe who has every superpower you have never thought of. Studios are unlikely to ever take a chance on such a surreal and bizarre interpretation of superhero teams, but no one could have predicted a Guardians of the Galaxy movie either, so who knows what may happen in the future?
