10 Superheroes That May Need Recasting (And Who Should Play Them)

1. Hawkeye - Aaron Paul

Stephanie Beatriz
Marvel Studios/HBO

I would be willing to bet I'm the only one to suggest this casting.

Paul would make for a good Hawkeye replacement for the simple reason that he is rather similar to Jeremy Renner. Their demeanours, voices, and even (to a lesser extent) appearances are all quite comparable.

Most will know Paul as Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman, a character with confidence levels that are oft-times not befitting of a superhero.

It is the roles he has taken on following that breakout performance, such as the damaged soldier Caleb in the most recent season of Westworld, that have now brought him to the point where playing someone like Hawkeye is not out of the realms of possibility for the actor.

Seriously, give him the archery lessons and bland military-adjacent superhero costumes that Renner has enjoyed over the last decade or so and I would personally reckon that Aaron Paul would make for a superior Clint Barton to the original actor. Not to say that that is an exorbitantly high bar to top.

Too harsh? Yeah, probably. Though there is genuine potential for Paul to give a better Hawkeye performance than Renner.
