10 Supporting Movie Characters Who Deserve Their Own Film

With the Star Wars franchise under Disney’s umbrella, the purse strings have been opened and spin offs springing up left and right. The Han Solo origin story was met with mixed reviews, but a character with an equally fascinating backstory that could be tapped for further content is Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Now, an Obi-Wan series was confirmed, with Ewan McGregor to reprise his role from the prequels. This was commissioned and the scripts written, but recent global events have pushed back the filming indefinitely, so who knows when or if this will come to fruition.

This should be the main focus for Lucas et al, though, because there are years of wilderness to explore with the character between the events of the prequels and A New Hope (which, given McGregor’s age, is presumably the intent for the planned series).

A series sounds all well and good, but Star Wars deserves to be seen on the big screen. An Obi-Wan led movie, with McGregor or someone else entirely, sounds just the ticket for the franchise’s ever-hungry fanbase.
