10 Supporting Movie Characters Who Deserve Their Own Film

8. Amy - The Festival

The Festival is, to be blunt, a pretty forgettable film. Starring the least interesting one out of The Inbetweeners as basically his character in The Inbetweeners, it captures some of the fun of a music festival but offers little in the way of laughs or content.

The bright spot of the movie is Claudia O'Doherty as Amy, an upbeat young woman who gives the movie the vast majority of its humour and warmth. The Australian comic has a gift for mining energy out of even the most limp material, and her perkiness and charm keeps the film going when Joe Thomas is at his mopiest (which is the majority of the runtime).

O’Doherty serves a similar role in Netflix’s Love (a much better watch) and pops up frequently with minor roles in the likes of Trainwreck, but she deserves a spotlight feature sooner rather than later.

Had The Festival followed Amy rather than lead character Nick, it would have been a far funnier and more enjoyable film. Give O’Doherty her due and pen her a spin off!
