If we went into every single way X-Men Apocalypse could have been improved, we'd be here all day, and dedicating that much thought into salvaging this movie is not the most productive use of anyone's time. But one easy fix to the film's narrative is this: make Mystique the main character.
The film seems convinced that Mystique has an arc, and at the end she starts to.
