1. Matthew McConaughey
Boy howdy, I never thought I'd see the day when I would praise Matthew McConaughey. But here I am, in the middle of What Culture, telling you that he's actually a talented human being. Not only that, but a phenomenally talented human being. If you want clear evidence of this, look no further than Killer Joe, a movie that came out last year that will make you unbelievably unsettled and only greatly impressed with what Matthew McConaughey is capable of when he stops being terrible for a while. There's a darkness and a real skillset hidden beneath Matthew's undeniable natural charm that he seems to be putting to full advantage in movies like Mud and The Wolf of Wall Streeta Scorsese movie also starring Jonah Hill, who almost made this list. I am positively loving this back half of McConaughey's career, unabashedly drinking in his dulcet Southern tones and smooth acting prowess. No shame.
