10 Supposedly Terrible Actors Who Proved They Can Really Act

10. Michael Cera

Scott Pilgrim Michael Cera is a one trick pony so stuck in his one trick that it wouldn't take much to get you to believe that Cera actually was a terrifyingly fidgety introvert. Like I wrote about here recently, things started for Cera as George-Michael on Arrested Development and hasn't really left that role behind since then. He stutters, isn't good with women, and his voice will probably crack until the time his grandchildren's voices start cracking. Poor little guy. Seems like he's just stuck there. Until Scott Pilgrim vs. The World came out that is. Cera took his nerd do well persona and flipped it on its head, balancing social inability with punching people through walls. It's a very good use of our expectations of Cera by director Edgar Wright, and by the time Pilgrim learns the power of self-respect it was almost like Cera was telling the whole of the Internet that he had learned his lesson. And if Arrested Development Season 4 didn't solidify that for everyone, then I don't really know what would.
