10 Surprising Things Sixties Batman Shares With The Dark Knight

5. All Of The Gadgets

Batman is not a superhero in the traditional way. He doesn't actually have any powers. He has to rely on his wits, his highly attuned detective skills, and all of those mad martial arts he learned. Plus he has all of those wonderful toys that he relies on, especially in the Christopher Nolan films, to help him fight crime. Everybody uses gadgets these days. Seriously, if he didn't have all of his cool doo-dads, Christian Bale's Caped Crusader wouldn't have made it through one movie. There's his costume, his grappling hooks, that surveillance thing from The Dark Knight, and all of the stuff he used to come back against Bane in the final film. Batman has always used gadgets, but he's never been so dependent on them to get by before. At least, he never was, apart from the sixties Batman TV series, where Adam West's more...generous physique meant that the action scenes were less dependent on physical exertion, and more on stuff like Bat Shark Repellent.
