10 Surprising Ways Thor & Buffy The Vampire Slayer Mirror Each Other

3. Both Have A Weapon Forged Specifically For Them

Mjolnir Scythe Staying on the topic of weapons, as well as Mjolnir being made almost exclusively for Thor (which we've already gone in to, so no need to do so again), season seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer revealed a scythe-like weapon that had been forged specifically for the slayer. So ancient was the scythe that it was simply called "m”" (a consonantal sound used in many spoken languages, produced by obstructing airflow in the vocal tract or, more precisely, the glottis, resulting in a gulping sound) and it was found in modern times by Buffy in a Sunnydale vineyard, when she "King Arthur'd it" by prising it out of the rock in which it was embedded (which no one else, including the all-powerful Caleb, could come close to doing). An earlier-discovered inscription hinting at m”'s existence read "it is not for thee, it is for her alone to wield", indicating that it was forged specifically for the slayer. It turned out that the Scythe was forged in secrecy by a group of women known as the Guardians for the Slayer to kill the last Old Ones that walked the earth. It was kept hidden from the Shadow Men, who later became the Watchers Council, who watched the Slayers. The Guardians became Watchers of sorts to the Watchers and sought to help and protect the Slayers. These women put the Scythe in a rock, for when the time came and it was needed again, the Slayer would find and use it. It was full of raw power that only the slayer could feel and it was used by Buffy in defeating Caleb (she cut him in half with it) and by several slayers - including Buffy - in the final battle of the series in the Hellmouth against the army of Turok-Hans. It was also the vessel used by Willow in her spell to turn all of the potential slayers in to fully-blown slayers.
