10 Surprisingly Grim Deaths In "Family" Movies
5. Professor Quirrell - Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone
J. K. Rowling's story of The Boy Who Lived was first given the film treatment in 2003 and, while we can all agree there are flaws, cinema-goers everywhere were enraptured by the world the movies created alongside the near perfect novels and have bayed for more ever since.
This entry is by no means the most emotional nor the most poignant death in the series but it is easily among the most gruesome. When you consider that Quirinus Quirrell's death can be perceived as more grim than an entire orphanage being drowned, Lord Voldemort's eternal soul forever trapped in Limbo and Bellatrix Lestrange's body shattering into pieces then maybe Harry Potter isn't quite as family friendly as we all thought...!
What makes Quirrell's demise the worst? Not only did he have the Dark Lord's spirit bonded to him constantly whispering to him (probably driving him mad) but the mere touch of Harry Potter's skin burns his body so severely that it immediately turns to stone and ash that crumbles to nothingness.
Imagine being awake for your cremation and you're pretty much there.
