10 Surprisingly Grim Deaths In "Family" Movies

Ah, who can honestly say they don't love this film? The 1996 adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel wasn't 100% faithful to the source material but it captured the most important parts of the narrative and developed its own peculiarities that are beloved by audiences of all ages.
Pam Ferris' turn as the sadistic, hammer throwing loon: Miss Trunchbull is utterly superb but she doesn't actually commit a murder in the movie and neither does Danny DeVito's Harry Wormwood so where's the grim death in this one? It's a light hearted family classic, isn't it?
Nope. No it is not.
You see, Matilda's beloved teacher Miss Honey is actually an orphan and the film goes into much less detail than the novel on this matter. The story goes thusly: Miss Honey's mother died when she was two years old and her father invited his stepsister-in-law (Miss Trunchbull) to live with them and care for Miss Honey.
Seems fine, he was probably pretty busy with work. However, Miss Honey's father died of an alleged suicide three years later and left everything to his stepsister-in-law and not his beloved daughter... hold up, something isn't right.
Yep, without question or query, Miss Trunchbull murdered him and the privilege is ours to decide how she did it. Given her love of the hammer toss, it's very likely that poor Mr Honey was bludgeoned to death - we don't know for certain but the evidence all points to it.
Nasty way to go.
