3. Paul Kersey Injures His Hand With An Improper Gun Grip - Death Wish (2018)

Many things are to be expected from a Death Wish movie - reactionary politics and brutal violence, for instance - but a genuinely grounded look at weapons handling? Not a chance.

Nevertheless, Eli Roth's otherwise forgettable 2018 remake sees trauma surgeon Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) suffer a nasty hand injury when he uses a gun to subdue some carjackers.

Kersey isn't exactly an experienced hand where firearms are concerned, and so doesn't appreciate the correct way to grip a pistol. As a result, he's subject to what's typically called "slide bite" - a cut received to the webbing between the thumb and forefinger when a gun's slide recoils backwards.

It can be easily avoided by simply holding the gun in a manner that prevents the slide from making contact with the webbing, yet it's nevertheless a rookie mistake made by many new gun owners.

To see such a meticulous, authentic detail included in an otherwise braindead remake nobody asked for is quite unexpected indeed.
