10 Surprisingly Rubbish Animated Movie Villains

5. Prince John - Robin Hood

The Lion King Scar
Disney

Let the record show that we will be the first to defend the record of the actual historical Prince John. Yes, he was nicknamed John Lacklands because he was the only one of his brothers who wasn't given a territory by his father, and quite frankly no one ever expected him to end up on the throne, but he also did a lot of good for medieval England.

So there.

But the cartoon Robin Hood version of Prince John as an anthropomorphised lion...well, that's another story altogether.

Because Prince John in the Disney version is really just a mess of mommy issues and pure sadness. He's a crybaby and a coward who can't handle criticism on any level (sound like any current world leader we know?) and whose biggest character trait is his tendency to suck his thumb when stressed, so it's sort of hard to take him seriously as a legitimate villain in this film.

His oversized ceremonial robe and crown that is too big for his head only add to the ridiculous, pitiful image of the character. Who is even scared of Prince John, anyway?
