8. Resident Evil: Retribution
The 5th installment in the over-produced and much maligned film series much like the lead heroine Alice (Mila Jovovich), just won't give up. Although it tired to shake up the faltering series by adding in some pretty nifty fight sequences with a barrage of zombie opponents as well as gooier than ever 3D gore, it is just another run of the mill action flick with inane dialogue and cardboard performances. Even with a built in audience of not only fans of the film series but as well the video games, this film seemed a letdown when released. But even with a good tongue lashing from the critics, and a lukewarm reaction from fans, Resident Evil: Retribution did manage to scare up over $220 million at the box office, making it one of the biggest hits in the series to date. Of course, before the ticket sales were complete there was already talks of a 6th and final film to be produced. Hopefully the next one will take a head shot and stay down for good.
