10 Terrible 2014 Films That Tricked Us With Awesome Posters

9. Noah

Why The Poster Works: The tag line is a little on the nose and more than a little cheesy, but this poster still works. Whether you're religious or not, the story of Noah is very well-known, meaning that the simple choice of title along with the visuals on display instantly make it clear what this movie is about. The lone figure watching over the destruction that the flood and storm are causing is also effective, though you do have to wonder why Noah isn't on his ark at this point. Nitpicks aside, Paramount Pictures decided to market this one as a summer blockbuster, and the poster ultimately does a great job of selling it to moviegoers as one. Why The Movie Sucked: As it happens, Noah wasn't really all that bad. It was however a disappointment, and not what you would expect from the same man who delivered the likes of Black Swan and The Wrestler. Biblical stories are always hard to tell in a movie (just look at the reception Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods And Kings received), and Noah proved to be no exception. Director Darren Aronofsky brought his own unique viewpoint to this story, and ended up alienating religious viewers and leaving everyone else scratching their heads. It was visually stunning and featured solid performances, but was just too... weird.
