4. Jonah Hex (2010)
Even before it tanked horribly when it hit theaters, the feature-length adaptation of the eponymous DC Comics character always seemed like an interesting proposition on paper to say the least; an action-orientated revisionist Western with supernatural elements, music by metal band Mastadon and a script from Crank's Neveldine and Taylor, helmed by a sophomore director whose only previous feature was Horton Hears a Who. The end result suggested heavy studio interference as the movie runs at just 81 minutes, with a plot that becomes increasingly nonsensical as it moves along, resulting in one of the worst comic book adaptations in recent memory. Josh Brolin does his best with the material and injects the title character with plenty of grizzled charisma, in what could have been a potentially iconic role if the movie wasn't so awful. Megan Fox, hardly renowned as the greatest of actresses, butchers her character's accent but certainly looks the part of the gun-wielding prostitute/love interest. For a movie as terrible as Jonah Hex, the rest of the cast is absolutely loaded with quality; John Malkovich, Michael Shannon, Will Arnett and Michael Fassbender all play supporting roles, not to mention brief appearances from Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Wes Bentley and Aidan Quinn. That's a solid cast for any kind of movie, and given the talent that the project attracted, it's highly unlikely that the original pitch bore much resemblance to the dud that landed on the big screen.
