10 Terrible Castings That Doomed Comic Book Movies

4. Ben Affleck As Daredevil - Daredevil

Spider-Man Andrew Garfield
Fox

Another casting choice that lives in infamy to this day, even those who like Ben Affleck as an actor seem to agree that this was just a flat out bad pick for him.

Ben Affleck is a very talented actor, but the character of Matt Murdock is about as far outside his wheelhouse as it gets. Now, that doesn't mean he couldn't have pulled it off, but unfortunately, director Mark Johnson isn't the best director when it comes to actors, so everything Affleck says as Daredevil just falls flat.

And for a film this stylized, the last thing you wanna be as a performer is flat. But there is barely any feeling behind anything Affleck says in any scene he's in. And for a character as emotionally intense as Matt Murdock, that's a big problem.

This was clearly a casting decision based on star power more than anything else, as Ben Affleck was one of the most famous stars in the world at the time. And in that respect, this is easily one of the most egregious cases of that casting mindset backfiring on the filmmakers.
