10 Terrible CGI Moments in High-Budget Movies

9. I Am Legend - Dark Seekers (2007)

http://youtu.be/uQfzvVeEkGI I Am Legend is one of the more unfortunate additions to this list because, for the most part, it's actually a pretty good film. However, it was evident from the moment the first trailer hit that, in spite of a $150 budget, it wasn't particularly able to convince that the monsters chasing Will Smith around New York City were actual living things. Take the above scene, the climax of the film, where a Dark Seeker is trying to break a glass window behind which Smith's Robert Neville stands; the character, supposed to be hulking and imposing, appears so light on its feet that the opposite seems true. Also, while these creatures have only questionable humanity, the poor facial animation - particularly of the eyes - makes it harder to broach that question, as this is an important theme of the film, and one amplified greatly in the superior director's cut ending. The uncanny valley derails the asking of that question, because we can't even begin to consider these things as possibly human; they are shapes fed through a computer, and little more. Also, the fire animation looks like something out of a late-90s PlayStation game.
