10 Terrible Film Sequels That Somehow Made It To Cinemas

1. Quantum Of Solace (2008)

Quantum Of SolaceSequel To:Casino Royale, the film which brought James Bond back from the brink after Die Another Day. The film was directed by Martin Campbell, who previously directed Goldeneye, and can therefore claim to be the only man who rescued Bond twice. Who Made It?: Marc Forster, who directed the Oscar-winning Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland and The Kite Runner. Why Was It Made?: Casino Royale was a big hit, and James Bond will always return. Why Is It So Bad?: Put simply, it undoes all the good work of Casino Royale. While Campbell's film went to great pains to emphasise the pain of the characters and create at least the appearance of emotional depth, Quantum of Solace feels, in the words of Mark Kermode, like it has been shot by the second unit. We still get a load of Bourne-inflected set-pieces, but they have no tension and no real credibility. The villain is unconvincing, the plot is immensely convoluted, the product placement is even more bothersome and the supporting cast are very annoying, particularly Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields. And to cap it all, it has the worst Bond theme song of all time - yes, worse than 'Die Another Day'. What Happened Next: After many delays caused by the collapse of MGM, Skyfall was released in 2012 to rave reviews. Sam Mendes is currently working on Bond 24. ---- Which sequels get your blood boiling? Drop us a comment below or visit Mumby at the Moviesfor more reviews.
