10 Terrible Films From 2020 (That You Should Still Watch)

2. Like A Boss

Like A Boss
Paramount Pictures

Starring Rose Byrne, Tiffany Haddish, and Selma Hayek, Like A Boss follows best friends (Haddish and Byrne) fight back against a powerful corporate executive (Hayek) to keep control of their small cosmetic business. It’s a simple premise with a lot of great talent onscreen and it poses an empowering – if a little overdone – feminist message.

Though this flick may look like a fun girls’ night out on the surface, underneath the glossy make-up there’s not much more here than two-dimensional characters delivering painfully unfunny lines.

While Like A Boss isn’t the worst film to come out this year, it’s far from being anything particularly good either. And with a central cast as talented as this, the mediocrity and lazy comedy is made all the worse as a result.

Currently sitting with a Metascore of a meagre thirty-three, the film’s forgettability failed to capture the attention of critics. But Like A Boss isn’t exactly trying to be anything ground-breaking.

The gags and themes might be uninspired, but that doesn’t take away from the fun that Haddish and Byrne are having onscreen together. If it's some mindless entertainment you're after, then this is the film for you.
