3. Poseidon (2006)
The movie is about a wreck. Eliminate "about" in that last sentence and the statement will be just as accurate. The poster is a beautiful one of a capsized ship, but as the quality of this terrible film goes to show, it's hard to recover potential treasures once they've already sunken. The one thing that the movie and poster share in terms of praises is stunning visuals. The poster is eerie but elegant with creatively integrated title text, and the movie has some costly but admirable CGI that earned it an Academy Award nomination for visual effects. The characters and cast, however, were odd at best. For one, the film should have done away with casting Fergie in a cameo, giving castaway a whole new meaning. Beyond that remedy, Poseidon still has so many weak spots that even its CGI cannot patch it up enough to save it from drowning.
