10 Terrible Horror Movies Everybody Loves

7. The Wicker Man

Anaconda Movie

As of 2022, Nicolas Cage has appeared in 111 movies - considering his current age of 58, that's a rate of two films a year from the second he was born. Bearing that statistic in mind, the statement that The Wicker Man remains his worst performance to date should lend some scope to just how woeful his dramatic showing is.

The 2006 remake is quite literally such a terrible movie that airlines have likely banned it from inflight showings to prevent people from walking out. Academy Award winner Cage genuinely looks like he doesn't have a clue where he is for most of the movie as his clueless character bemusedly bumbles about the pagan island. Frankly, 15% from Rotten Tomatoes was exceedingly generous.

What lands The Wicker Man such beloved status amongst horror buffs is how unintentionally hilarious the movie is. The plot lurches from one accidentally side-splitting sequence to another - Cage punching a woman in the face while dressed in a ludicrous bear costume is the quintessential instance of a scene intended to be tense and danger fraught that instead leaves audiences howling with laughter.

Cage's excruciating performance has been forever immortalized in the form of memes across the internet, with the endlessly eccentric actor himself later intimating that his ridiculously over-the-top performance might have been intentional. What ever the case, The Wicker Man remains adored amongst fans for all the wrong reasons one would associate with a horror film.
