10 Terrible Horror Movies That Are Actually Awesome

9. Alien 3 (1992)

Sporting just 46% on Rotten Tomatoes and routinely considered one of the weaker instalments of Ridley Scott's seminal action-horror franchise, Alien 3 doesn't equal the brilliance of its predecessors, but it's far better than it's ever been given credit for.

The directorial debut of David Fincher, the grisly threequel follows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) as she crashes on a planet inhabited by violent male criminals, and must face-off with the dreaded xenomorph one more time before it consumes everything in its path.

Though it never overcomes its convoluted story and repetitive action sequences, Alien 3 soars with Weaver's powerful performance (which in this writer's opinion is her best in the role) as a woman willing to do anything to bring her greatest enemy down, and Fincher's keen eye for unsettling imagery.

Fincher himself may have disowned the film, but time has made Alien 3 a true cult gem with more virtues than meets the eye.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
