10 Terrible Horror Movies That Tricked You Into Thinking They’re Good

We've all been there; you're staying in a beautiful country cabin when three weirdos with sacks over their heads turn up and hold you hostage.

Oh, that's never happened to you? Well then, you may struggle to relate to this film.

Released in 2008, The Strangers puts Live Tyler and Scott Speedman in this exact situation. The masked goons - Dollface, Man in Mask, and Pin-Up Girl - descend on their isolated cabin with absolutely no intention of sharing a bottle of wine over a game of Cribbage.

The home invasion subgenre of horror is extremely popular and Tyler was a hot property at the time, so this film did super well at the box office. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it was particularly enjoyable.

Tyler and Speedman's characters bicker a lot, which really distracts from the tension. Plus, the three invaders aren't ultimately all that interesting, which leaves the number of good characters in this film at a dangerously low amount.

There are certainly better takes on similar ideas out there that haven't achieved the same cult status as The Strangers.
