10 Terrible Horror Movies That Tricked You Into Thinking They’re Good

The number of great movies that have been ruined by an overcomplicated plot is hair-rippingly high.

We're not saying that everything has to be The Very Hungry Caterpillar, but some films that make sense would be nice every once in a while.

One such casualty of overcomplicated-itis in this sci-fi horror flick from 2000. In The Cell, Jennifer Lopez plays a psychiatrist who must venture into the mind of a serial killer to track down the location of his final victim.

What could possibly go wrong?

Alongside Jenny from the Block, this movie also stars Vince Vaughn, Vincent D'Onofrio, and other people whose names don't begin with V. It's a stacked cast and a really nice initial concept, but sadly The Cell just gets a little too big for its boots.

It tries to be all clever by suggesting that certain things aren't what they seem and introducing various alter egos for some of the characters. Instead of adding to the drama, this just leaves you wondering who the hell anyone is and why they're doing what they're doing.

And this was off the back of J-Lo doing Antz! Talk about momentum squandered.
