If we had to crown a King or Queen of "Films That Think They're Better Than They Are", then M. Night Shyamalan would be in pole position to sit on the throne.

It's a meme now, but there was a time where The Sixth Sense director really was tripping over himself trying out-plot twist his previous works.

One of Shyamalan's most oft-criticised pieces of work is the 2002 psychological horror Signs, which sees Mel Gibson take on an invading force of extra-terrestrials.

Careful - we all know how he feels about aliens!

The film made a buttload of money and got its fair share of decent reviews, but there was also plenty of discourse about just how bad the story was. The terrifying alien force that invade Earth can be defeated by water... you know, that substance that makes up like 70% of the planet...

Also, Gibson's character's son has asthma, which is like his only character trait. And then there's Gibson himself - a former priest who uses this whole ordeal as an excuse to go back to the church!

This is all your fault, actually-dead-the-whole-time Bruce Willis! You ruined everything!
