10 Terrible Horror Movies (You Couldn't Stop Thinking About)

A horror movie based on the Slender Man creepypasta should've been pretty easy to get right, but rather than opt for the most basically generic, down-the-line adaptation imaginable, studio Screen Gems ended up getting cold feet and unleashed an editorial abomination upon audiences.

You see, the infamous "Slender Man stabbing" - in which two young girls near-fatally stabbed a third, in an apparent attempt to appease Slender Man - was still being litigated at the time of the movie's release, and Screen Gems feared a huge public backlash from the film's more violent scenes.

And so, numerous death scenes featured in the film's trailers - such as one character stabbing themselves in the face, and another diving off the roof of their high school - were cut, creating continuity issues where characters seem to just... vanish from the story.

These changes make Slender Man a less coherent film, and serve as a beguiling testament to how even a fully shot and "completed" film can be cut to ribbons before making its way to audiences.
