10 Terrible Horror Movies (You Couldn't Stop Thinking About)

3. House of the Dead (2003)

For the majority of the world, 2003's adaptation of hit video game House of the Dead was their first introduction to soon-to-be-infamous filmmaker Uwe Boll.

Boll's utterly deranged take on Sega's legendary zombie-shooter franchise largely just feels like a generic action-horror movie with some familiar branding slapped on it.

But to make sure you know this movie is based on a video game, Boll inexplicably splices random clips from the games throughout.

Hollywood wasn't exactly putting respect on most of the video games it was turning into movies at the time, but House of the Dead was a singularly sacrilegious trainwreck, with its goofy, CGI-heavy action, laughable zombie makeup, shambolic dialogue and ropey performances.

Almost every artistic choice here is completely baffling, which in turn ensures that House of the Dead is anything but just another forgettable failed video game movie - in the very least it's incredibly memorable for all of the utterly cursed, chaotic decisions Boll made during its production.
