9 Terrible Jobs The Movies Made Look Awesome

Men At WorkIn Reality: Working as a garbage collector has to be one of the most undesirable jobs on Earth. Spending the day riding around hanging off the back of a loud, filthy truck while covered in the most foul substances imaginable is no one's idea of a good time. It's an outdoor position year-round, so if the weather is unpleasant, deal with it. This is another situation where your customers have very little respect or consideration for you as well. Despite the fact that most services have clearly defined rules about what they will and won't pick up, residents routinely haul out couches, file cabinets, refrigerators and all manner of items that are against pick-up regulations. And you spend so much of your day covered in trash that it eventually starts to seep into your pores, giving you a permanent dumpster-esque aroma. In The Film: Real life brothers Charlie Sheen (pre-insanity) and Emilio Estevez (pre-irrelevance) make this job look like a breeze. When we first meet our heroes, Estevez is waking up on the beach next to a beautiful woman while Sheen is sniping posters via an open window and spying on his neighbors. The two have dreams of owning their own surf shop and slinging garbage is just a weigh station on the road to nirvana, turning a disgusting job into a veritable Olympic event, replete with bowling, watermelon dodgeball and lid frisbee. Add to that using phrenology to hit on women and partnering up with a crazy Vietnam vet who hates cops (and rent-a-cops too) and you've got quite the adventurous gig.
