10 Terrible Live Action Anime Adaptations

8. Kite

Attack On Titan Wall
Anchor Bay Entertainment

Based on the controversial anime of the same name, Kite tells the story of a girl who trains to become an assassin to avenge her family’s murder. She’s aided in her quest by her father’s old partner, played by Samuel L. Jackson.

While the anime received acclaim by some – including Tarantino – for its action scenes, this awful live action edition disappeared without a trace. Despite a short running time it feels endless, India Eisley is a charisma vortex in the lead role and Sam Jackson isn’t so much phoning it in as faxing it.

There’s only a handful of action scenes and they all fail to get the blood pumping, plus the “shocking” reveal of the true villain can be easily guessed within the first ten minutes. Kite wants to be Kick-Ass so bad, but it just doesn’t have the creatively to pull it off.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
