10 Terrible Live Action Anime Adaptations

5. The Guyver

Attack On Titan Wall
New Line Cinema

The Guyver anime tells the story of a young man who gets infected by some high-tech alien armour, and must fight back against an evil corporation when they come to claim it. He has to fight all manners of nasty creatures and protect his loved ones at the same time.

The iconic design of The Guyver armour is ready-made for a film, but again the low-budget approach to this 1991 American version did the character no favours. The lead actor has the charisma of a plate of soggy noodles, the script is unbearably annoying and the monster fight scenes would be rejected from the Power Rangers show for being too cheesy.

The poster tried to sell itself on the star power of Mark Hamill, and it even implied he was playing The Guyver instead of a supporting role. And on that note, it’s almost worth seeing to watch the former Skywalker get turned into a giant cockroach at the end.

Almost.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
