10 Terrible Movie Super Villains Which Deserve Another Attempt

4. Apocalypse

The X-Men movies are a series with more than their share of ups and downs - although there's certainly an awful lot more downs than there are ups.

One of the most egregious errors made in 20th Century Fox's X-Men universe, however, is the characterisation of Apocalypse.

As a being who is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe, Apocalypse is more of an Avengers-level threat as opposed to a single-movie bad guy defeated without too much trouble.

X-Men: Apocalypse mostly nailed the look of the villain, although he wasn't anywhere near as physically imposing as the character warranted, and the effort put in to set up the power the character possesses was non-existent.

In short, 20th Century Fox took an iconic and potentially world-ending threat and made it little more than a paint-by-numbers villain obviously designed to remind us of the MCU's Thanos, except without any of the time that Marvel put in building up the depth of the Mad Titan's villainy.

With the X-Men moving into the MCU, it seems that we may eventually see Apocalypse done right, but for now, X-Men fans will have to content themselves with this mess.
