10 Terrible Movies That Have Surprisingly Awesome Soundtracks
4. Practical Magic
The Movie: This Sandra Bullock/Nicole Kidman fantasy/comedy/drama/romance/family movie had no idea what it wanted to be from the start, and couldn't be construed as being successful in whichever genre you want to place it in. This was the schmaltzy Sandy of the Hope Floats era playing a witch who does everything she can not to use her magical powers...so at least expectations were low to start with. Unfortunately, not even a sexually domineering Nicole Kidman as the "naughty witch" could grope the blandness out of this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVO7nj49odY&list=PLF885E6904EE7ECFE The Soundtrack: This soundtrack isn't as consistently powerful as it could have been--in fact, sometimes it's downright sleepy--but at least it brings some of the feminist edge that the movie tried (and spectacularly failed) to deliver. The pairing of Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow for the song's main theme was a great choice, but more impressive is the utilization of stone cold classics like Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog" and Elvis Presley's "Always On My Mind."
