10 Terrible Movies That Have Surprisingly Awesome Soundtracks

3. I Know What You Did Last Summer

The Movie: By the time I Know What You Did Last Summer hit theaters, the teen-targeted slasher movie revival was already losing major steam. Scream was a great send-up of movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th, mocking the traditions of the slasher genre while coming up with something original and terrifying in the process. IKWYDLS, on the other hand, embraces those recently-skewered tropes with a warm hug and a nice hot cup of tea. It's a stylish movie, but it's severely lacking in the originality department. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t_2eI5MMrA&list=PLPesPmzv-3I1JlIziJPA2r3S9ynEoPb9R The Soundtrack: Ironically, the soundtrack's similar lack of originality actually proves to be a strong point. Dedicating half of the album to alt-rock covers of slightly obscure classic rock songs (Blue Oyster Cult's "This Ain't the Summer of Love" and The Beatle's "Hey Bulldog" are particularly inspired choices), probably opened the eyes of a lot of teenagers who bought the soundtrack to hear Korn and Our Lady Peace. Speaking of which, OLP's "Clumsy" is a weird song to put in a soundtrack like this. Great song, though, which overshadows its awkward placement.
