10 Terrible Movies That Still Smashed The Box Office
9. Thor: Love And Thunder
Life in the MCU's Phase Four got off to a rocky start, with Black Widow, Eternals, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness all underwhelming within a 12-month period. However, it wasn't until Thor: Love and Thunder released following the Doctor Strange sequel that it was confirmed the wider MCU franchise was in its worst-ever rut.
If there was one film you would have thought could have reinvigorated the MCU, as it so sorely needed at the time, it would have been a follow-up to the superb Thor: Ragnarok. What Love and Thunder offered, though, was one of the most disappointing superhero movies in a long time.
Naturally, expectations were through the roof, yet what Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth did was take everything that was fun about Ragnarok, and push it far beyond the levels of charming into the realms of painfully unfunny, cringeworthy, and genuinely embarrassing.
That being said, the film that marked a new low for the franchise still managed to pull in over $750 million. This is more than other Multiverse Saga outings Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, Captain America: Brave New World, and Thunderbolts* - all of which are better movies (yes, even Quantumania).
