10 Terrible Movies With One Redeeming Feature
2. The Opening Credits - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
It says a lot about the overall quality of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that the whole thing peaked during the opening credits. Either the worst or second worst movie in the entire franchise depending on how you feel about The Last Stand, it was hardly an auspicious start to the solo adventures of one of cinema's most popular characters.
Given how tedious the rest of the movie was, the entire project should have just been based around the concept shown during the credits. Wolverine, a man who has been at war with himself for centuries, knows nothing but violence and pain so he fights in every possible war he can be a part of. The inner turmoil, character development and action sequences virtually write themselves.
Instead we got an eye-rollingly insipid love story, generic set-pieces and some ropey CGI, all while beginning the serial mindf**k that was about to become the X-Men timeline. If the rest of Origins was even half as good as the brilliant opening, then the movie would definitely be spoken about in much more glowing terms today instead being sneered at in the wake of two vastly superior sequels.
